June 18-20, 2010 -
Buck's Lake beneath Sierra Sky.
-
Rally Point & Time: TBD
-
We had so much fun last year
at Buck’s Lake we’ve decided to do it again! Mark and Vicki Griner
have graciously invited all their EXR friends for another summer day
on the blue waters of Buck’s Lake. Once more, they’ll bring up
their two jet bikes and set up a picnic spread for all to enjoy
while you relax and unwind on the shores of Sandy Cove. If you’re
not into the beach scene there’s plenty of excellent riding
throughout this Sierra mountain retreat.
-
There’s a bit of twist this
year as Buck’s Lake Lodge burned down over the winter. The result
will be a little more riding on Saturday from a different venue, the
Sierra Sky Lodge a little farther down the
road in
Cromberg. It’s a family owned and operated lodge and cabins venue
just the right size for our needs. They are will to let us “take
over” their facility for the weekend and seem to have a good
understanding of customer service. There’s an Italian restaurant
next door and a steak house about a mile’s ride away.
-
They are willing to
block out the entire property
for
us if we can make our individual reservations over the next two
weeks. Room selection and rates are on their
website. They have eight different sized units on site and an
overflow facility about a mile up the road. There’s some cost
saving options for room sharing if interested. A credit card will
hold your reservation and they have a seven day full cancellation
policy. Again, you need to
reserve your room by
Feb
26th
or they become first come, first serve to the
general public.
-
Take a moment to check your
calendar, look up the room choices, and give Wendy at the Sierra Sky
Lodge a call stating you’re with the EXR BMW Club for June 18-20!

Notes on the ride and routes:
-
The Bend area is chock full of
10+ riding areas and roads to boot. There are numerous charming
little towns in the area as well (Sisters, for one). Crater Lake is
on the way to or from as is the Milltown Espresso Shop in Crescent,
Oregon, the birthplace of Expresso Riders. Of course, the main
attraction for the weeklong ride will be the MOA Rally itself, the largest BMW event in the United States. EXR is chartered
under the MOA so formidable and visible presence is practically
mandatory when they have the rally in our own stomping grounds!
-
Routing will include Hwy 36,
Trinity Loop including Callahan-Gazelle Road, Lava Beds National
Monument, Crater Lake National Park, McKenzie Pass, Hwy 1 along
with many other fine roads and adventures.
-
The Lionbar will be open
nightly.

your fancy, better make your lodging reservations ASAP, and tell

you'll have to mail a check with 2 weeks of making your reservation.
30 day cancellation policy.

September 22-26, 2010 -
Lasso Kanab.
-
Rally Point &
Time: TBD
-
This five day loooong weekend
ride will run a 1400 mile asphalt lasso around Kanab, UT, home of
Little Hollywood, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, Denny’s Wigwam
Curio shop, and the Rewind Diner featuring the finest coconut cream
pie ever tasted!
-
Day one will take us over the
Sierras and east on US 50, “The Loneliest Highway in America,” with
a stop at the
Best Western in Eureka, NV (for one night, the 22nd).
-
Next morning we’re off to Great
Basin National Park for a tour of the Lehman Caves. After
that, we’ll hightail it southeast into Utah and down to Kanab to a
two night stay (23rd & 24th) at the brand new
Holiday Inn Express.
-
Did we mention the Rewind Diner
yet? You know they specialize in chicken fried steak with homemade
gravy that Grandpa makes every morning. The Rewind is right next
door to the largest Indian curio shop you’ll ever hope to see,
Denny’s Wigwam. They call Kanab “Little Hollywood” because it used
to be a very popular area to film western movies and especially
western TV shows. The town has monuments to the various stars every
50 feet or so along their main thoroughfares. Friday is open to the
activities or riding that suits your fancy. You can visit the
Best Friends
Animal Sanctuary and/or volunteer for the day working with the
animals. This needs to be set up in advance. Or, you can ride
south to the
North Rim of the Grand Canyon.
-
Saturday the 25th, we pack up and head west
following familiar routes like the Extraterrestrial Highway, on our
way to our final stay for this trip,
Best Western Hi Desert in Tonapah, NV.
-
All three venues are reasonably
priced, have great food within walking distance, and also have
whirlpools. Get booked today and we’ll work out the reservations
for the Lehman Caves and Best Friends once we know who alls coming
along for the ride!

October 15-17, 2010 -
The
Silver Lining
of Virginia City.
-
Rally Point & Time: 0900 at
the Starbuck’s in Martell. TFBECO at 0930.
-
Ride
over the Sierras to a lunch spot around Lake Tahoe. Then on to
Virginia City for a leisurely afternoon of swimming, soaking,
napping, training riding, or venturing out to the main drag for
rustic exploring and shopping.
-
We will be staying at the well
appointed
Silverland
Inn and Suites as we did last year. A block
of king, non-smoking rooms has been reserved at $79.00 per night.
This venue has a pool and spa plus includes breakfast each morning
(group code: CGBIKES).
-
Friday night will be a non-group
dinner so you can venture out on your own or in groups as you see
fit to sample the local fare at any of the many establishments
available. Keep in mind, Virginia City has no liquor stores so if
you’d like something back at the room it’s best to bring it with you
or pick it up just before we head up the hill on Friday (or send
Hoss on a beer run).
-
Saturday is set aside for taking
in all that is Virginia City. You can relax and sleep in late, shop
at your own pace, take a ride in the country, head out to Carson
City or Reno, get up early and do an SS1000 to Cedar City and back,
or pretty much whatever strikes your fancy.
-
Dinner Saturday
will be at a club favorite: the Casa Del Rio, at 17:30. Don't forget
- this is a cash only restaurant, and they do not do split checks!
-
After dinner we’ll return to the
Lionbar set up in the hotel breakfast room to present your annual
awards and reminisce about the 2010 riding season while we start to
plan 2011.
-
Sunday morning
good-byes, and individual rides home along your favorite route.
