EXR returns to the
Sierra
Sky Lodge in Cromberg, Ca up in Plumas County of the Northern
Sierras. Peruse their website for a description of their facility
but the property is a 50’s era motor lodge nestled in the pines off
Hwy 89/70 between Quincy and Graeagle. The current owners, Wendy and
Wayne and their four kids, have put a great deal of sweat equity
into modernizing and upgrading their lodge. The venue has eight(8)
cabin rooms in various configurations.
-
They have agreed to hold the
facility reserved exclusively for EXR until March 1st at
which point they will return the leftover rooms back to the public.
Wendy prepares an excellent homemade breakfast each morning and has
also agreed to put on a reception/BBQ event for us Friday night at
the pool and fire ring at a nominal charge per person. Saturday
night we’ll return to the Italian place within walking distance for
another unique dining experience.
-
The surrounding area is chock
full of excellent riding roads throughout Plumas County. Last year
we just scratched the surface of all the great roads leading to
creeks, lakes, and surprise connections between towns. The
communities of Graeagle and Portola are nearby for fuel, lunch, and
shopping.
-
As you might suspect, eight rooms
isn’t all that many and it will be first come, first serve.
-
There will be a day ride up to
the lodge on Friday otherwise we’ll meet you there Friday evening!
The lodge can be accessed directly via I80 and Hwy 89 north from
Truckee.
